Switched to a torque wrench for cassette installs after 9 years of guessing

I used to just crank lockrings on by feel, never had a problem. Then last month a customer's bike came back with a creaking hub. Pulled the cassette off and the lockring was barely hand tight. My feel was way off that day, maybe I was rushed or tired. Bought a basic beam torque wrench for $35 and now I use it every single install. Takes an extra 30 seconds but I can actually tell when something's moving when it shouldn't. Has anyone else had a close call that made them stop trusting their hands?
