TIL tire levers are not for prying like I thought for 8 years
I was swapping a flat on my commuter outside a coffee shop in Denver last Tuesday. I had this old metal lever that kept gouging the rim, and some guy drinking his latte walks over and goes 'dude, you use those to roll the bead off, not pry it.' I've been doing it backwards since I started fixing bikes in my buddy's garage. He showed me the technique in like 30 seconds, and now I feel dumb but also way faster at tire changes. Anyone else have a basic shop skill that clicked way later than it should have?
