I hit 10,000 unread emails last week and just sat there staring at the screen
I opened my inbox on a Tuesday morning at my kitchen table in Fort Wayne and the little counter said 10,000. Not 9,999. Ten thousand exactly. I could not believe I let it get that far. Back when I got my first email address in middle school, the idea of having even 50 messages sitting there would have stressed me out. Now it is just years of store newsletters, old work threads, and reminders I swiped away on my phone. I scrolled through a bit and found a coupon for a pizza place that closed in 2019. That one hit different. My wife said just to mass delete the whole thing, but something in me wants to dig through and see what I missed. Anybody else let a number get away from them like this, and did you just wipe it all or sort through the mess?
