I finally stopped ignoring the old anvil at my neighbor's barn sale

Went over to help Bob price some stuff and there was this beat up anvil sitting in the dirt for like 15 years, I figured it was junk until I flipped it over and saw the maker's mark. Turns out it's a 150 lb Fisher from the 1920s, and after a light cleaning the face is still in killer shape. Anyone else ever find a hidden gem in a spot where you least expected it?

Well actually that Fisher is probably more like 1908 or 1909, not the 1920s. Fisher stopped putting that specific arched style of mark on their anvils around 1912, give or take a year. They switched to a fancier stamp after that, the kind with the little serial number system. It doesn't take anything away from your find though, a 150 pound Fisher in that condition is a solid score no matter the exact year. Bob probably had no clue what he was sitting on for a decade and a half. Just don't go grinding on the face or wire wheeling it too hard, that patina is half the value.
