inMy $15 library card saved me from a $60 book habit
Feel that. Swapped buying video games for borrowing them from the library too.

inJust spent $45 on a 'premium' prompt book that's basically just a list of single words like 'door' or 'red'.
Ugh, that's brutal. I once bought a "worldbuilding bible" that was just pages of blank lines with headings like "City Name." Total scam. Lately I've had better luck just browsing writing subreddits for their weekly prompt threads. Some users post these little half-page scenarios that actually have a character and a problem. Way more useful than a random noun.

inHeard a coworker say they skipped the first season of a show to 'get to the good part'
My buddy did that with Parks and Rec. He started at season two and loved it. Went back later and said the first season was a slog anyway.

inGuy on the 7:15 train yelled at me for putting my bag on the empty seat next to me
Honestly @james_ramirez, maybe he just needed to feel in control of something that morning.

inHad to decide between a full removal or a risky crown reduction on a big silver maple
Yeah, "holding up a big target" is exactly it. That garage changes the whole math. My rule is if a major failure would hit a structure or a place people always are, the risk is too high. A reduction just buys a little time, it doesn't fix the decay. At that point you're not saving the tree, you're just hoping it falls somewhere else.
