My uncle told me at Thanksgiving 2019 to stop buying new board games for a year and just play what I owned. I lasted 4 months.
He said it while we were setting up Wingspan at his kitchen table in Sacramento, and I laughed it off at first. But he was right about one thing: I had 63 games on my shelf and maybe 11 of them had hit the table more than twice. I made it until March 2020 before I caved on a used copy of Brass: Birmingham, and honestly the quarantine made his advice impossible anyway. Now I do a shelf audit every January and it actually works way better than a hard ban. Anyone else have a relative drop some board game wisdom that you ignored until way later?
