Shoutout to using a dice tray for card games too

I started using a dice tray for my card hands during game nights about 2 months ago. Turns out it keeps cards from sliding off the table when people reach for snacks or drinks. At a 6 player game of 7 Wonders, that saved me from at least 3 accidental reveals. Has anyone else repurposed accessories like this for stuff they weren't meant for?

Start wondering how many game nights you had before you got smart about it. I mean, did you just get tired of chasing cards off the table or was there one specific moment that made you switch? Because I've been using a big wooden salad bowl for dice rolls for years now, and it works great until someone mistakes it for actual food.

Oh man, that's a classic. Idk, I feel like this kind of thing is just part of a bigger pattern in life where you don't realize how annoying something is until you've dealt with it way too many times. Like with my work bag, I used to just toss tools in loose until one day I dropped a wrench and it rolled under a customer's fridge. That was the moment. So yeah, I bet for you it wasn't one huge thing but just that slow burn of having to pick up cards and dice for the hundredth time. That's how most of my "why didn't I do this sooner" moments happen. It's never a dramatic revelation, just a quiet "I'm done with this" feeling that finally sinks in.
