Warning: I thought solo board gaming was just sad, then I played 12 rounds of Ark Nova alone
My buddy kept telling me to try solo board gaming for like a year and I always brushed it off, figuring why play a board game if nobody else is at the table. Then a rainy Saturday in Reno last month I finally set up Ark Nova by myself and played all 12 rounds in about 90 minutes. It turns out beating your own score is a whole different kind of fun, and the game moves way faster without waiting on four people to take their turns. I even started keeping a little notebook of my high scores by zoo, which felt nerdy at first but now I actually look forward to it. The only part that still feels odd is setting up a big game just for me, but once the cards hit the table that feeling goes away. Does anyone here play solo regularly, and if so what games actually hold up after 10 or more plays?
