Finally figured out why my torch tips kept plugging up after 2 years

I was using the wrong gas pressure this whole time. Been running my Victor setup at 40 psi on the acetylene for years because that's what some old timer told me way back. Last week a guy at the supply house asked why my gauge was set so high and showed me the manual says 15 psi max for my tip size. Cleaned the tip and it ran like new. Has anyone else been running pressures way off from what the book says?

Ran my plasma cutter at max pressure for a year before realizing the manual settings actually stopped it from blowing out the consumables.

I blew through three tips in two months before I figured that out. @amybarnes, that manual might as well have been written in ancient Greek for all the good it did me sitting in the drawer. I just assumed max pressure was the way to go, like more gas equals more cutting power or something. Real smooth move on my part.
