Foreman swore the tape trick was baloney until Tuesday

We were laying out a baffle plate on a 14-inch header, and this new guy keeps marking with a regular sharpie. The lines wash off as soon as the rain hits. I told him to switch to the old soapstone and paint marker combo, but my foreman laughed and called me a dinosaur. Then Tuesday, we get a half-inch of rain before the crane shows. Every mark smeared to nothing. We had to re-lay the whole thing from scratch, took an extra 90 minutes. Foreman just stood there quiet. Now he's asking me to make a cheat sheet for the crew. Anyone else got a stubborn boss who only learns after a wet mess like that?
