Serious question, did anyone else hit a wall at boilermaker job 100?
I finished my 100th field job in Gary, Indiana last week and it felt like just another Tuesday, which bugs me because I always heard the first hundred are supposed to mean something. I got into this trade because my uncle ran a local for 30 years and swore the pride kicks in around job 50, but at 100 I mostly just feel tired and want a cold drink. Was there a number where it actually clicked for you, or is that just something old guys say to keep the young ones from quitting?
What if the old guys are right and the pride thing is just delayed, like a hangover that hits you at job 300 instead of 100? Plenty of trades don't pay off emotionally until way later, and expecting a feeling at an arbitrary round number might be the problem, not the trade. Maybe the wall is real, but so is the curve, and you just haven't gotten to the part where it bends yet.
