Cliff notes ruined my last three book club meetings
I caught two members citing summaries instead of reading the actual novel last month, and our discussion on the ending fell apart because their key quotes didn't match page 214. Has anyone else dealt with people faking their way through a pick, or do I need to start quizzing everyone on chapter details?}

Have you tried picking a book with a slow, detail-heavy first chapter and asking everyone to share one specific moment that stuck with them? That usually weeds out the skimmers pretty fast. I had to do that once and it honestly made the whole group read a lot more carefully after.
