Ditch the bone folder for a cheap plastic spatula on tight spines

Ngl, after 12 years of creasing leather with a bone folder on narrow hinges, I tried a $3 kitchen spatula from the dollar store and it flexes better around the joint without leaving those white stress marks, has anyone else found a random tool that works way better than the standard?

Bone folders have a purpose because they don't give, so you control the crease exactly where you want it. A flimsy spatula just follows the path of least resistance and that leads to uneven folds on stiff leather. Stick with the tool that gives you real feedback, not a cheap kitchen gadget.
