Pro tip: I was using way too much PVA glue for years without knowing

I mean, I always thought more glue meant a stronger hold, right? But then I saw a video from a binder in Portland who showed their process, and they used maybe a quarter of what I put on. I tried it on a test copy of 'The Great Gatsby' and the spine was way more flexible and opened better. Has anyone else had that 'aha' moment with glue amount?

Yeah, it's wild how many things work like that. Do you think it's because they all need to soak in a bit to make a good bond?

Wait, you have to let wood glue soak in? I always just slapped it on and clamped it right away. Maybe that's why my joints were kinda weak. I started giving it a minute to get tacky first and it made a huge difference. It's like the glue needs to settle into the wood fibers or something.
