Tried a homemade paste vs store-bought PVA for my last project
I was regluing a broken spine on a 1920s novel last month. Figured I'd try mixing my own wheat paste instead of using the PVA I usually buy at the craft store. The PVA dried too fast and left a stiff feel, but the homemade paste gave me more working time and the binding feels way more flexible now. Has anyone else switched to wheat paste for old books?

Same here, way more control with wheat paste on older paper.

Oh man, that's a relief to hear I'm not the only one who struggles with that. Glad it's working out better for you now.
