Why does nobody talk about the cheap bone folders from the craft store?

I spent about $8 on a plastic bone folder from a big box craft store last year, thinking it would be fine for light scoring. It snapped clean in half on my third book, right down the middle. I ended up buying a proper Teflon folder from a real supplier for $25, and the difference in feel and strength is huge. Has anyone else had a basic tool fail on them at a bad time?

Was it a hardcover or a paperback? That's a pretty quick failure either way.

Can't believe it snapped on the third book. That's wild. I've had cheap tools bend before but never break that fast. Must have been the worst plastic they could find.
