Compared worm composting vs. tumblers for 6 months

I had a neighbor who swore by his tumbling composter, but I tried a simple worm bin last spring. The worms broke down my kitchen scraps way faster and without the back strain from cranking that drum. Anyone else find worms more reliable than the gadget approach?

That thing about "back strain from cranking" is exactly why I ditched my tumbler too. But honestly the worm bin thing taught me a bigger lesson about how we overthink stuff in general. I swear half the time we buy these complicated gadgets when the simple old school way works better and costs less. Same thing happened with my neighbor who bought a fancy bread machine, I just use a bowl and my hands and my bread comes out way better. People get sold on this idea that you need some special device to do basic stuff, but nature already figured out the best system for breaking down scraps. Worms been doing this for millions of years without any batteries or plastic gears.

Ever think how much of that stuff we buy is just trying to solve a problem we made up in the first place? Like we invent a "need" for a gadget to fix something nature already had handled.
