I finally realized at the Portland Rose Garden that naming every single cultivar is a bit much.

After spending 45 minutes trying to remember if a particular hybrid tea was 'Peace' or 'Chicago Peace', I decided to just enjoy the plants for their looks and scent, not their pedigree. Does anyone else feel like the focus on perfect identification can sometimes get in the way of just liking plants?

I used to be a stickler for names, but getting lost in a rose garden last year changed my mind. What's your favorite type to just look at?

My garden has 15 roses I just call "the pink one" or "the really fragrant yellow one.

That's the only way to keep track of them honestly. I mean, after a certain point the real names just don't stick.
