Shoutout to the spider plant my grandma left me in 2019, it took me 8 months to figure out why the tips kept browning
Turned out my tap water in Tucson is super hard and she'd been watering hers with rainwater from a barrel her whole life. Anyone else switch to collected rain for their houseplants and see a real difference, or is distilled just as good?
Tucson water is brutal, mine leaves white crust on every pot within a month. Same thing happens with aquariums, people fight algae and fish stress for years before they test their tap and realize it's liquid rock. Rain barrels or a cheap RO filter both fix it, the plant doesn't care where the clean water comes from.
