Appreciation post: my dad's 30 year old wheelbarrow outlasted everything I bought last year
My dad came by last Sunday to help me move some dirt and he brought his old wheelbarrow from 1994. I laughed at first, but that thing rolled smooth while my $70 one from a big box store has been sitting with a bent axle since spring. He said something simple that hit me weird, "they stopped making them to last." I started looking at my pile of broken stuff in the corner of the yard and it was kind of sad, a trimmer, a hose reel, two shovels. Has anyone else noticed that the old beat up gear just keeps going while the new shiny stuff quits on you?
