My $189 air fryer died on day 6, right in the middle of dinner

I got it as a housewarming gift and it just cut out mid batch of fries, no warning, no nothing. The store says I have to ship it back on my own dime which is like $30. Has anyone actually gotten a refund from a company after the unit died this fast, or am I stuck eating the cost?
