That $40 harbor freight winch failure made me rethink my whole setup
Last fall I was pulling a dead oak stump out near Denton and the winch cable snapped on the third pull. Lucky nobody was standing close, but the handle flew back and put a dent in my truck tailgate. I'd only owned it for two weeks and used it maybe five times. The store said it was rated for 2,000 pounds but the stump wasn't even that heavy, just wet and stuck. Has anyone else had luck with those cheaper winches or am I better off renting a real one next time?
