Burned $60 on fancy European butter before learning my cheap store brand works better for croissants

Man that "82% fat content" thing got me too. I kept seeing it in every baking video and thought I was missing some secret. But here's the thing... did you try lowering your oven temp by like 25 degrees when you used the fancy butter? Because I read somewhere that the higher fat content changes how it melts so you gotta adjust. Still sucks that the cheap stuff worked better right out of the gate though. What kind of flour are you using? I wonder if that makes a difference too.

That $20 dehydrator I bought on Craigslist paid for itself in 2 weeks

Wait until you figure in your labor and packaging costs though...

Hit 500 miles of walking on the West Side this year without even noticing

A commemorative t-shirt is the least they could do for 500 miles of walking. That dog better appreciate all that effort, mine would just look at me like I owed it more treats. Phone step trackers really do have that judging vibe, constantly telling you to close rings or hit goals. It's like having a tiny personal trainer in your pocket that never takes a day off. Still, accidentally hitting 500 miles is wild, most people can't do that on purpose.

My humidifier gave my anime figures a weird white dust layer

Man, I feel your pain on the white dust thing. I had the same problem with my Gunpla kits, turned my Sazabi into a dusty mess (like, really bad). What worked for me was switching to a hygrometer to keep an eye on humidity levels so I didn't even need the humidifier running all the time. Also, I started using a little desk fan to circulate air near the shelf, seems to keep the dust from settling as much. Distilled water is definitely the best fix though, learned that the hard way too.

I used to swap business cards like crazy at every mixer I went to

That thing about handing your phone over, my barber in Hamtramck does that and people actually call him back. I tried it at a meetup last spring with a guy who runs a small machining shop and we ended up talking for forty five minutes about our favorite barcodes. Funny how a warm phone beats a cold card every time in this city.
