Found out my wood stove heats better with a tiny fan sitting on top of it
I spent two winters just letting the heat rise straight up until a buddy in Vermont told me to try one of those magnetic stove fans. Grabbed one for 35 bucks on Amazon and it pushed warm air across my whole first floor instead of just cooking the ceiling. Anyone else find a cheap gadget that made a big difference in their setup?

My buddy in Maine swore by a little ceramic heater on a timer... he'd set it to kick on an hour before he woke up so the bathroom was warm when he got out of the shower. Saved him from having to run the whole house furnace just for that one room. Said it paid for itself in a month of lower oil bills. But then his cat figured out how to push the buttons and kept turning it on at 3am for a while. He still uses it just hides the controls better now.

Tape a piece of cardboard over the control panel, @rosek44. Those little ceramic heaters are solid but the buttons are way too easy to bump or paw at and it saves you having to find a whole new spot for it every time.
