Just realized nobody around here actually knows what off grid means for a well pump
I keep hearing folks in the Vermont group say they're off grid when the grid still powers their whole house, and it bugs me because the well pump is the part that matters most when power drops. We lost power for 4 days after that ice storm in Randolph and my neighbor's place went dry by hour six since his pump runs on 240 and his little inverter couldn't touch it. A pressure tank and a 12 volt pump setup cost me about $600 total, way less than the generator he ended up buying. How are you all handling water when the lines go down?
