Was reading up on why my toilet kept running and found out flappers are designed to wear out after like 6 months

Bet three years on a flapper is the exception not the rule.

Just realized half my customers can't tell eucalyptus from silver dollar gum

they're both green" - I swear that line haunts my dreams now. Had a similar thing at my local nursery last month, but it was with lavender vs. Russian sage. Guy kept telling me I was wrong that it wasn't true lavender. Sniffed both and said they smelled close enough. People just see a grey-green leaf and their brain shuts off.

Overheard a guy at the gun shop talking about chemtrails and it got me thinking

Yeah no, that stuffs just water vapor and ice crystals. Higher altitude planes make different looking trails depending on temp and humidity. I see regular short lived trails all the time and then sometimes they spread out more when the airs just right. People forget clouds used to do weird things before the internet was everywhere.

Overheard a yard manager say synthetic winch line is safer than steel, but I saw a synthetic line snap and whip back just as bad last month

That "just as bad" part is what gets me. I had a 3/8 synthetic snap on me in Tennessee and it wrapped around a guy's leg before he even knew it let go. So I'm curious - you were standing close enough to see it whip back, were you paying attention to how the line was spooled or what the load was when it let go? Because I've seen guys blame the rope when the real problem was they were shock loading it or had it frayed on a sharp edge for weeks.

I finally hit my 100th stair stringer yesterday and it changed my mind about jigs

Yeah I had almost the exact same turning point with my circular saw guide. Used to just freehand everything and relied on my eye for straight cuts. Then I was doing a deck with like 40+ cuts on PT 2x6s and rented a track saw setup for a weekend. It was painful how much time I spent marking and re-checking lines before that. Now I got my own track system and I won't go back for long runs. Jigs are for people who value their time more than their pride I guess.
