Saw a house in Keene with a wood stove and no chimney liner, and the owner said the inspector was just being picky
Was looking at a place outside Keene last month and the seller kept bragging about this old wood stove in the basement. No liner in the chimney, just stovepipe shoved into a hole in the brick. He said he has run it that way for 11 winters with no problem, so a liner would just be spending $3,000 for nothing. I walked away from that house. There is no cheap way to live like this if you burn your place down, so who here actually runs an old stove without a proper liner?
