Shoutout to the guy at the Concord farmers market who called my $9 gallon of maple syrup a waste
I was at the Concord farmers market two weeks ago and a guy next to me saw me grab a $9 gallon of syrup and told me he taps 4 trees on his 2 acres in Canterbury and gets enough for his whole family every spring. I did the math on my drive home and I've spent $180 on syrup over the past 3 winters, which is real money in a state where heating oil runs me $700 a tank. Has anyone here actually tapped their own trees in a small yard, or is that one of those things that sounds easy until you're boiling sap on a turkey fryer for 14 hours?
