Warning: my old wood furnace beat the new propane one on cost and I'm still mad about it
Ran a wood furnace in my barn for 9 years and it kept the whole place warm on maybe $600 of cordwood a winter. Switched to a propane unit 3 years ago and I'm looking at $2,100 a season now. Anyone else go back to wood after a few winters of these prices?
Man, my buddy did the exact same thing. Burned wood for years, felt all smug about his cheap heat, then got tired of splitting and stacking and went propane. Now he complains about the bill every single month and I just nod and say nothing.
