I hit roast number 100 on my popcorn popper and the blade finally died on me
Just passed my 100th batch on the same $20 air popper I got at a Goodwill in Tulsa, and last night the fan started grinding mid roast at 6 minutes in. I always thought people were being dramatic about popper upgrades, but now I'm staring at a half roasted batch and wondering if I should just grab another cheap one or finally build the heat gun setup. Anyone else run a popper into the ground like this?
Man, come on, this is the exact wrong lesson to take from this. That $20 popper just gave you 100 roasts, which works out to like twenty cents a batch, and you're mad about it? People drop $400 on a Behmor and burn through heating elements too, so spending more money does not mean it lasts forever. A heat gun setup is not some magic fix either, you still burn out guns and you're standing there with a gun in one hand and a spoon in the other for 15 minutes. Just grab another cheap popper off Craigslist, mod it the same way if you even modded this one, and keep going. The whole point of the popper thing is that it's cheap and easy to replace, so stop trying to turn it into a science project.
