Update: the 3 day job on Maple Street that turned into 9 and taught me to check the chimney first
Took a small rebuild job on a 1940s chimney on Maple Street last month, figured 3 days tops. Found out day one the whole thing was tied into the roofline wrong and the flashing was a mess of tar, so I had to stop and call the homeowner before laying a single brick. Ended up 9 days and about $2,100 over what I quoted, but the owner was cool about it once I showed him the photos. Anyone else gotten burned by not walking the whole structure before giving a number?
