My $40 grocery cart trick saved me from a $300 parking lot disaster

Hit Costco parking in Phoenix last Saturday, loaded up 3 bags of bulk stuff into my old folding cart. Snapped the cheap plastic wheel on a curb, and the whole thing tipped over, cans rolling everywhere. I was about to abandon it when a guy in a pickup handed me two bungee cords and said to strap the bags tighter and angle the cart up the curb. Took 2 minutes to re-rig it and it held for the whole walk home. That cart was 3 years old and I almost pitched it. Anyone else had a roadside fix that outlasted the original part?

The curb trick part is what got me, I always figured busted wheels meant the cart was done. But yeah, I've had a tape job on a cooler handle last two more summers than the original hinge ever did. Sometimes the jerry-rigged fix really is the keeper.
