Lesson learned from my failed bean stew attempt

I thought I could save money by using dried beans instead of canned. Soaked them overnight but didn't cook them long enough. Ended up with a crunchy, inedible mess for dinner. Had to order takeout, which totally blew my budget. I mean, idk, maybe it's just me but I always mess up with beans.

Saw somewhere they need a hard boil first.

Actually, a slow simmer works better for me than a hard boil.

Dylan's "slow simmer" advice sounds a bit fancy. Miles is right that a lot of guides say to start with a hard boil. I guess Dylan just likes to feel like a chef from a cooking show, turning everything into a delicate art. Next he'll tell us we need to whisper nice things to the pot. It's just boiling water, not a science project.
