Had to choose between a hostel dorm and a private room in Barcelona last month
I picked the dorm for $28 a night, saved $150 over 5 days, but my roommate snored so loud I missed the Sagrada Familia tour I'd booked what would you do - save cash or get sleep?

Were you able to switch rooms or ask the front desk at all once it became clear the snoring was that bad? I usually go for dorms myself but I always bring earplugs and a sleep mask, still not foolproof though. That Sagrada Familia booking is rough, did you get your money back or just had to eat the cost? Some hostels let you move if you ask in the morning before checkout, kinda surprised they didn't offer that.

Oh man @nelson.cameron, I once had a guy snore so loud I swear the bunk beds were vibrating and I just laid there hoping for morning.

Snoring in shared spaces is just the universe testing how much patience you actually have. It's wild how a stranger's breathing can become your whole night's drama, almost like a weird social contract you didn't sign up for. Ever notice how the worst noises always show up right when you've finally gotten comfortable?
