Just realized I wasted $150 on a 'skip the line' pass for a museum in Florence

I bought it online months before my trip, thinking it would be a huge time saver. When I got there, the regular line was maybe 15 people long and moved fast. The pass got me in maybe 5 minutes sooner, but for triple the price. Anyone have a better way to check actual crowd levels before you go?

Wasted" is a strong word for buying peace of mind. That pass guaranteed you wouldn't get stuck in a two hour line, which does happen. Paying a premium to avoid that risk is perfectly reasonable.

Oh man, my buddy skipped the pass last year and missed half the day in line, so @kellyflores is totally right about the peace of mind thing.

Yeah, I read an article that broke down the math on those passes. It basically said if you value your time at even a low hourly rate, skipping those long lines pays for itself fast. Your buddy missing half a day is a perfect example. That's hours of your vacation you never get back. The peace of mind knowing you can just walk onto the big rides is worth way more than the ticket price to me.
