Spent 3 hours on a stuck shutter because of a tiny spring in a Nikon FM2n

It was a single, tiny return spring behind the advance lever that had jumped its post, and I only spotted it after taking the whole top plate off twice. Anyone have a good trick for keeping those little guys in place during reassembly?

Vent: A client in her 70s told me she's never used sunscreen a day in her life

I was doing a basic facial for a regular in Phoenix, and when I reached for the SPF 50 to finish, she just laughed and said 'honey, I grew up putting baby oil on at the beach.' Her skin actually looked pretty good, which really threw me. Has anyone else had a client with perfect skin who totally broke all the rules we preach?

I always thought you needed a hotel to be safe in a new city

Got stuck in Bangkok with a canceled flight and only $40 left for the night. A hostel worker told me to check the 24-hour airport prayer room, which had free mats, AC, and security. Slept there for free and saved my cash for food the next day. Now I always look for free safe spots like that before booking anything. Anyone know other cities with similar 24-hour safe zones?

My first Python loop printed the same thing 10,000 times

I was trying to make a simple script that would say 'Hello' a few times, but I messed up the condition. Instead of stopping at 10, it just kept going. I looked away for a minute and came back to a terminal window filled with nothing but 'Hello'. It took me a solid five minutes to figure out I had typed 'while x > 0' instead of 'while x < 10'. Has anyone else had a simple typo cause a total meltdown like that?

Just realized I wasted $150 on a 'skip the line' pass for a museum in Florence

I bought it online months before my trip, thinking it would be a huge time saver. When I got there, the regular line was maybe 15 people long and moved fast. The pass got me in maybe 5 minutes sooner, but for triple the price. Anyone have a better way to check actual crowd levels before you go?

I finally gave in and bought a $200 sleeping pad for winter trips.

It was worth every penny. I stayed warm on a 20 degree night in the White Mountains when my old foam pad would have left me freezing. What other gear is worth the high price tag for you?

Shoutout to the AI that wrote a full page of nonsense about my local hardware store

I was testing a new text generator for a project yesterday. I gave it a simple prompt about a small business in my town, Springfield. It wrote a whole paragraph, but every single fact was wrong. It said the store sold things they never have, and it made up a fake owner's name. I had to scrap the entire output and start over. Has anyone else had a model just completely invent details like this?
