Spent 4 hours trying to find a hostel in Lisbon that actually had lockers that fit my backpack

I showed up at 9 PM and three different places said their lockers only fit daypacks. Had to walk 20 blocks with a 50L bag before finding one that worked. Anyone else run into this locker sizing problem in European hostels?

had a buddy who went through this exact nightmare in Barcelona last summer. he ended up just sleeping with his bag chained to the bed frame because nothing fit.

Well, I'm going to gently disagree with you here @evab52. I've actually been to Barcelona three times now and I never had issues finding a locker or a safe place for my bag. It's true you have to be careful in touristy spots like Las Ramblas, but a lot of the hostels and hotels I stayed at had decent size lockers in the room or a front desk that held bags. Maybe your buddy just got unlucky with his accommodation? I think it's worth asking ahead before you book, most places are pretty upfront about what they offer.
