Ditched my weekly spreads after the third time I left blank pages

My habit tracker had more empty squares than filled ones for like 6 weeks straight and it finally hit me that I was wasting time on layouts I never used, so I just started dumping everything into a daily log with a plain notebook and it actually works better for me - anyone else ditch the fancy layouts for a no-nonsense approach?

Those layouts always look so good online but the reality is a lot different when you try to stick with them. So what made you finally admit the daily log was the right move was it just the blank pages or did something else click for you? I ask because I see so many people forcing themselves into trackers and spreads that clearly don't fit their actual lives. It takes a lot of self honesty to just drop the pretty system and go with something that actually works.

You know what REALLY hit me? I was out camping with my buddy last summer and we spent THREE HOURS trying to set up this fancy tent with all these pockets and dividers for our gear. Beautiful thing. Gorgeous online. In real life it was a tangled mess that kept collapsing. We eventually just threw our stuff on the ground and slept on the dirt next to it. Next trip I brought a plain old tarp and a sleeping bag. No pockets no nothing. BEST sleep I ever had outdoors. That's exactly what happened with my planner. I kept buying these pretty inserts with habit trackers and meal plans and productivity layouts. Never used a single one. Blank pages felt like cheating but they actually let me write what I NEEDED not what some Instagram influencer needed.
