So I was watching a bullet journal setup video while eating lunch and the guy goes 'if your weekly spread takes less than an hour to build, you're not really tracking anything.' I sat there with my 15 minute scribbled setup in front of me feeling weirdly judged. Here's my thing though, I actually left my old fancy journal because doing full layouts with washi tape and hand drawn boxes ate up my Sunday nights and I stopped using it by week 3. Now I just do a plain two page spread, date on the left, tasks on the right, and I've kept it going since January. But part of me wonders if I'm missing something by keeping it so plain, like maybe the people doing the pretty spreads actually stick with it longer? Meanwhile my brother swears the opposite, that his simple list keeps him sane and every artsy spread he tried died fast. So which side are you on, does a bujo need to look good to work, or does simple and ugly win every time? Honestly curious because I keep flip flopping.
