Almost ruined a whole side of beef with bad knife storage
I was losing my mind trying to figure out why my cuts were getting ragged after just sharpening. Turned out my magnetic strip was rubbing the edge wrong every time I put a knife back, dulling it in minutes. Tried a wooden block at $35 from Ace Hardware instead and now my boning knives stay sharp for 3 full shifts. Anyone else have a tool that's secretly wrecking your blades?

I used to swear by magnetic strips, thought they were the best thing ever. But after ruining a couple decent knives, I switched to a block and now I get it, the strip actually does more harm than good for certain blades.

it's funny how that pattern shows up everywhere once you notice it, we buy the fancy tool that looks great on the wall and then figure out later it wasn't made for the way we actually cook... same thing happened to me with a cheap mandoline that I thought would save time but it just sat in the drawer. guess the best stuff is usually the boring, practical choice that just works without any drama.
