My old band saw finally gave up mid-order last Thursday

The motor started smoking on a big pork shoulder order and I had to finish 80 pounds with a handsaw. Has anyone else had to pull out the old tools when electric stuff fails?

The motor started smoking" oh man, that's rough. I had to finish a batch of ribs with a hacksaw once when my bandsaw died mid cut, felt like a total caveman but it got done.

A sharp handsaw and a steady rhythm got me through 40 pounds of brisket when my big saw blew a breaker. Had to set up a station on the prep table with a wet towel under the cutting board to keep things from sliding. The key was keeping the blade clean every few cuts so it didn't gum up and start tearing the meat instead of slicing. Felt like a throwback but the texture on those cuts was actually cleaner than usual.
