Went with the manual foot pedal on my grinder instead of the knee switch and it saved my back
Splitting whole hogs on a Saturday with just me and one guy on the saw, I swapped out the knee switch for a $60 foot pedal after my hip started aching by noon. Turns out the pedal keeps both hands free on the carcass the whole cut, and we cleared the same 14 hogs 40 minutes faster than the week before. Has anyone else made that swap, or did you go the other way and rig up something better?
Man, my buddy did the same swap on his setup and it was a game changer for him too. He runs a small butcher shop and was killing his hip leaning on that knee switch all day. He grabbed a cheap pedal off a sewing machine table at a yard sale, wired it up himself, and said the first Saturday felt like a vacation. Kept both hands on the meat the whole time and quit doing that little hop every cut. He swears he will never go back to knee anything.
