Ditch the $250 Gore-Tex pack for a $60 canvas one, zero regrets after 18 months

Picked a Filson tin cloth duffel over an Osprey with all the fancy membranes cause the zippers on the fancy one died in 3 months, but this canvas thing has survived two Alaska trips and a muddy job site in the PNW, anyone else find the simple stuff outlasts the tech?

Man, that's the thing that gets me too. But here's the real question: how's that tin cloth holding up when it's actually wet for days straight, not just a drizzle? I've seen waxed canvas go all sticky and weird in humid heat, and that sounds like a nightmare on a job site.
