My $40 boot dryer finally paid for itself after the river incident

Last November I was fishing the Green River in Utah and slipped on a wet rock, went in up to my waist. My Red Wings were soaked and I had a 3 hour drive home, thought they were done for. I remember my buddy Clete always swore by a boot dryer, so I grabbed a cheap $40 one at the hardware store that night. Two days later the boots were dry and not even stiff, still wearing them today. Has anyone else had a pair come back from a full soak like that, or did I just get lucky?

Wait, so you just set them on the dryer and left them for two days? I've heard you're supposed to rotate them or stuff newspaper in first, or the leather gets ruined anyway. Did you do anything special or was it literally just plug in and walk away?
