Overheard a guy at REI say his 10 year old hiking boots finally died, but he only replaced the laces twice
He said the soles were still fine but the fabric tore at the heel after 3,000 miles, so I'm wondering if anyone here has patched that spot with something better than duct tape, or is that a sign to finally retire them?
