Can we talk about the guy at the Boise library swap table who said my donate pile was junk?
I was dropping off 3 boxes of stuff at the Boise library swap table on Saturday and a guy standing there sorting donations looked at my old blender and said, out loud, "who would even want this." I stood there for a second and almost took my boxes back home. Then I thought about it and he was kind of right. Half the stuff in my pile was broken or missing parts and I was calling it a donation to feel better about not throwing it out. There is a real difference between giving away things people can use and using this group as a dumpster with extra steps. I went home and actually tested everything and only 9 of the 22 items worked. The rest went to the real trash where they belonged. Now I ask myself one question before posting anything here: would I take this if someone left it on my porch? Curious what the rule is for everyone else, do you test things first or just post and hope?
