Hot take: drilling through top plates should be done from below not above

Last week my crew had a debate on a job in Portland about whether to drill up or down through top plates for new coax runs. The older guys swear drilling from the attic down is faster, but I say going from below up keeps the hole cleaner and avoids hitting wires. What side do you take on this?

Well, isn't going up from below just asking for drywall damage and a harder time fishing through insulation? I've seen too many messy patches from the bottom-up approach, so I gotta side with the attic guys.

Wait, you've actually seen multiple messy patches from bottom-up jobs? People are doing it that badly that it leaves visible damage?

Yeah, "messy patches from the bottom-up" is real, I've had to cut out and redo those.
