Old timers could tone a tap in 2 minutes, why is that lost now

Watched a 25 year vet out of Tampa balance a tap with nothing but a multitool and his phone speaker, took less time than I spend pulling my meter out of the bag. Maybe the training places are too focused on the certification software and not the actual hands on feel. Anybody else notice the younger guys skip the audio method entirely?

Laugh out loud at the idea of the “audio method” being a lost art. Next thing you know, they’ll be teaching kids to tune taps with a stethoscope and a prayer. I swear, if it doesn’t have a Bluetooth app and a firmware update, half these guys act like it’s black magic. Give me a seasoned ear and a screwdriver any day, but I guess that doesn’t get you a shiny certificate. Pretty soon they’ll need a QR code just to open a dang valve.
