That senior installer told me to always leave a service loop behind the wall plate
He was right, I went back to fix a loose connection yesterday and that extra 6 inches of cable saved me from having to run a whole new line through the attic, has anyone else had that tip get them out of a jam?

Six inches is the difference between a 5 minute fix and a two hour attic crawl. Been there. I always leave a full foot now just to be safe.

Ha, is it really that dramatic though? I've had to rerun plenty of cable and six inches never made or broke the job for me. Usually just means pulling a little slack out of the bundle, not a whole attic expedition. Maybe your crawl space is way worse than mine, but I'd call that a pretty rare edge case.
