My uncle in Buffalo said he taped over his sister's wedding for a Super Bowl, and it made me rethink my whole VHS pile
I was at my uncle's place in Buffalo over the weekend and he mentioned he recorded the 1992 Super Bowl over my aunt's wedding tape on purpose, since blank tapes cost $4 each back then. It hit me that all those tapes in my parents' basement closet aren't really a collection, they're a record of whatever someone cared about most on that exact night. So what's the one thing you taped over that you'd give anything to get back?
It's wild how we do this with everything, not just tapes. My dad still has the same camera from 2004 because the new one was "too much money" and now the old one eats SD cards. Phones, cars, apartments, even relationships get the same treatment. We keep the stuff that works and toss the stuff that needs a little effort. Then ten years later we're digging through a closet wishing we'd spent the extra twenty bucks.
